How Are PVC Rubber Keychains Made? From Design to Delivery, Step by Step

Custom PVC rubber keychains turn your logo or mascot into a multi-colour, embossed product. How does a drawing become the flexible keychain in your hand? Below are the general steps we follow at our factory in Konya, Turkey; you can watch clips from production on our Videos page and in our PVC keychain production video series.

1. Design and technical drawing

Your logo or drawing is prepared for production: the number of colours is set, fine lines and small text are thickened so they remain legible in PVC, and the relief levels (2D / 3D) are defined. For printed orders, the design is sent to you for approval — nothing goes into production without it.

2. Mould

A product-specific mould is made from the approved design. It keeps colours in separate cavities so they do not mix and reproduces the relief details accurately. Repeat orders of the same design can reuse the existing mould.

3. Colour filling

Liquid PVC prepared in the design's colours is filled into the cavities one colour at a time. Each colour is a separate layer, which is how the product ends up multi-coloured yet a single piece. In series production, colour filling can also be done by automatic machines (automatic keychain colouring machine).

4. Curing and demoulding

The filled mould is cured with heat, turning the liquid PVC into a flexible, durable form. Cooled products are removed from the mould and trimmed.

5. Assembly and quality control

Rings, chains or other fittings are attached. Colours, dimensions and details are checked against the approved design, then the products are packed.
